Evolving from a Brown Ale first brewed in 1906, to a style example of the Dubbel style today.
Sweet and roasty in aroma with fragrant notes of prune, milk chocolate, forest floor, dark sugar and brewed coffee. Burnt caramel and a hint of spices like clove join in the flavour. Light in body, medium high to high in carbonation and low in bitter. A bit of initial sweetness but finishes definitively dry. Amazingly complex and elegant for a beer with a lighter body and a moderate alcohol level.
Tasting notes by Maarten Nederhof.
