Brasserie de la Senne is tackling a classic: don't say ‘witbier’ anymore, say WITZ!
It was missing from our range and from the local craft beer scene: a light, 100% organic Brussels wheat beer that contains no spices! Shocking, don't you think? The fact is that historically, and contrary to popular belief, Belgian wheat beers didn't contain any.
Our wheat beer is called WITZ, and has a straw-blonde color. It has the characteristic haze of this beer style, and its head is white and creamy. The emphasis is on the freshness of the wheat and the roundness of the oats. It develops very floral notes (white fruit tree blossoms) and a slightly lemony and green currant fruitiness. It has, as expected, very little bitterness, but a slight, very refreshing acidity.
